the order we got them - Gorgeous George was kind of a funny-looking
cat, but he preened like nobody's business, Taber was a little hellion,
as was Cheetah, Mitze owned the house, a gorgeous pure white mix, and
Jace has a gorgeous face with grey tabby spots, but is mostly white.
Speedbump. This Maine coon of monstrous girth
is always interposing himself between where you are and where you want

Kato. Much like his Inspector Clouseau inspired
namesake, Kato would sneak-attack our ankles from his ambush point under
the bed. He did this nightly, and would then pounce away with as much

Pouncer de Leon. Pouncer was unique. We thought
his name was appropriate, seeing as how he was a Florida native. He
sat against walls like a person, with his hind legs extended in front
of him, sort of like the Kliban cats of the '70s. He hid food in places
all over the house, and when he ate, picked up his food between his
paws, squirrel-style. We thought perhaps his mother had been frightened
by a squirrel (or eaten one) while pregnant. He had a short, but happy
life, and we miss him to this day.. Submitted

Neferkiti. Obviously, it's a play on the name
Nefertiti. The word "nefer" in ancient Egyptian means both "beautiful"
and "perfect." My Nefer is just that. She is a ragdoll cat with violet
eyes and people see photos of her and always comment on her beauty.
She is a prima dona who lives by habits, traditons, and custom. I love
her desperately, and of course she is not in the least bit spoiled.
LOL! In ancient Egyptian, the word for beautiful cat is "nefermau."

Fafrhd. a huge Grey and black tiger striped maine
coon mix who got his name after bringing me a mouse for breakfast the

Fierce Fang. Cat lover James Getty helped an abandoned
pregnant cat by feeding her and then she came to him for help when she
went into labor. There was a set of twins (2 kitties in same 'sack')
one of which had not fully formed and the other of which was stillborn.
James rubbed the stillborn with a towel to remove the mucous from the
little nose and mouth and then gently squeezed the chest and brought
the baby back to life. James named him Fierce Fang to honor strength
in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds..

Gizmo . Also known as Giz, Gizzie, Gizzer, Gizmeister,
Mssr. Gizmeaux and Mr. G. Giz was a runty rescue kitten who reminded
me of a "gremlin" - hence the name. 10 years later he's going strong
and pretty much runs the house and everyone in it!.

then my aunt found her and gave to us. She almost died!It's a miracle

Jinxy. My little kitten is black and white. No,
he is not Jinxed. I was just looking on the internet, like this site,
for the perfect name.I was reading off all the names to my mom, but
she liked all the girly names, like linda or julie. You know girl names.
I kept saying no way, she is kind of a tom boy, she is muscular. My
mom didn't agree with me. I read the name Jinxy and fell in love. We
brought my baby to the vet to get it checked up, as it was a stray.
The vet was checking to see if she was pregnate. Luckily she was not.
A few weeks later we brought her in to get spayed. As you know females
are kept over night. So we got an unexpecting call from the vet, he
told us they went in to spay her, and found out she needed to be nuetered.
When I came home from school, my mom told me the news. I told her 'I
told you so'. It turned out she wasn't a tom boy, but just a boy. This
name works for both girl and boys, so his name just stiuck. I still

Stir-Fry. He was rescued one hot afternoon outside
of a open air market in Rome, Italy. Once nursed back to health, a friend
from work, from the Philippines came to see me. When she first saw Stir-Fry
she made such a fuss, as it seems she had never before seen a pure white
cat...when she left, I picked him up, still a tiny kitten, looked him
in the eyes and said "Now see? If you're a bad kitty I'm going to give
