on July 5, 1995 at 4:20 AM, we knew that this was "Duke". Duke is now
a very happy, large (20 pounds) 4 yr old cat who loves to lounge around
and comes when you whistle. He is a big love muffin..
Snickers. Snickers ( who was mentioned previously
with Fido) is still alive even after suffering through a house fire.
He was named Snickers because as a wild kitten I was able to catch him
by feeding him those little tiny snicker bars. He is one to prove cats
have nine lives, or at least more then one..

Fido. My nephew found Fido when he was very little.
He was an orphan kitty. My nephew named called him Fido and it stuck.
He is a big, pure black cat that likes to come and go as he pleases.
When he was little, my sister and I loaded him up in the car with two
other cats cand took him to a vet that nuetered cats for $2.50 and sent
you home. We had three sick cats to nurse but they did fine! Fido is
the only one still alive. The other two were Morris and Snickers. All

Gray Fox, Fonzarelli. This large, gray-and-white
cat's striking good looks earned him the first name. His cool demeanor
earned him the second name -- it's based on the TV character from the
'70s sitcom "Happy Days." As if this weren't enough, my dad called him
"Harold." Luckily, he was a pretty smart cat, and was never confused

Tiger Boy, his sister Tiger Girl and their auntie T2. Tiger
Boy and Tiger Girl are obviously tabbies. When another stray tabbie
showed up, we named her T2 (because she was a tabbie too). T2 is very
onery so the T2 sometimes stands for "Terminator 2" like the Arnold
Schwarteneger movie. T2 really answers better to Tee Tee. We also have
Tony, Puff, Pearl, Mini Pearl (she looks like Pearl, only much smaller),
Gray, Grayson (he's Gray's son), Roger, Chancie Girl, Chancie Boy (both
Chancies were given second chances at life), Harrison (he was dearly
departed Harry's son) and Gizmo. All of our "children" were strays and
have been spayed or neutered since we adopted them. They run our lives
but we wouldn't change it for the world.. Submitted

Marcus. Marcus is a 20 pound feral who has lived
in our home with his brother Hunter and another feral, Saber for almost
two years. Marcus should be called fat Boy which is actually his nickname
because he likes to eat popcorn with the family.
Hunter. Hunter is a beautiful 3 year old black
with a silver undercoat feral who I adopted when he was 3 months old.
It took him a long time to adjust to having someone take care of him
but now he loves me and my family very much..
M…RK…. Mšrkš is finnish word and means bugbear
or bogey. Mšrkš is black and white, long haired cat with big yellow
eyes. He really looks out like a troll. Sometimes he also acts like

Ace. A rambunctious little cat who was a only
child but made up for such a small litter as she has the energy of six
kittens. She is pure black as is her father Gabriel. Ace is a good name
for her as she is a pro at flying through the air, when she chases her
toys she literally does backflips and full 360's in mid air. Even though
she is very playful she always finds time to cuddle. She is,like her
father, a wonderful pet and great companion. .

Summer. We got this tabby from a family who found
a few kittens dropped off at their work place. She is a tabby like our
other cat, Autumn. She's about 9 months old now & becoming pestier every
day. She continually gets into the trash can in the kitchen, rips open
any food left out (such as bread on the refrigerator; sausages thawing
in the sink; now sticking her head in the garbage disposal to try to
find food). She has dry food out all day, and gets can food around 5p.m.
every night. We have a spray bottle to try to make her learn, but to
no avail. Anytime you walk towards the kitchen she runs right in front
of your feet & has a very loud & annoying MEOW that just irritates you!!
Anyone with some suggestions short of getting rid of her, PLEASE, PLEASE
HELP!!! We would greatly appreciate it!!. Submitted

Spooky. I found her in October and she is black

GARY. Yes we all might agree that names like "Fluffy"
or "Socks" are cute names for our cats but why not give them names with
real meaning? If you are like me, then you also think of your pet as
a family member. I gave my beloved grey and black stray cat that I picked
up from the local animal shelter this name because it means "Warrior."
I figured if he could survive two years out in the open, then he was
a true warrior. I believe names with real meaning give a real meaning
to the animal that they are attached to. . Submitted

Slurpee (the Mad). You don't have to add the Mad
bit. I think Slurp wants that exclusive. He was named that because it
was the only name he ever really responded to. He looks at you whenever
the name Slurpee's spoken. The Mad part is because, when he was a wee
kitty, he had an almost insane dislike for human legs. He chases them
like a ball of yarn. Beware the family visitor who wears shorts! He
neve bites though, just sorta zings around, touches base, grabs a bit
with his paws, then zings away again. Nice name if you have a crazy

for his supper? He also sings up a dinner of spiders and other bugs

10 months old I knew it needed my help. So I got him down and check
the neighborhood to see if it was anybody's, and it wasn't. So I took
him home and keeped it. Now he is a 1 year old male blake bombay. He
is very hyper and playful kitten. He has piercing green eyes just like
his sisters. He is very healthy and muscular. Nothing scares him.***.

Sassy. I got sassy when she was 1 month old. Now
she is a 9 year old female calico. When she was one, she got pregnant,
and due to pregnancy complications she was unable to deliver her unborn
kitten. We soon after relized that she couldn't lift herself up, it
was urgent to rush her to a hospital. Unfortunatly her kitten could
not be rescued, but luckely Sassy survived. She was close to death but
the doctors saved her. That same day we had her spayed so it wouldn't
happen ever again. Now she is heathy and happy espesialy beause we got
her a new kitten playmate Shadow who I have also wrote about. Sassy
is a good name to fit a picky eatter.*** . Submitted

Lester. We had Lester for 20 years, we had to
put him to sleep two years ago and I still miss him terribly, we grew
up together you see. He was a sharp little kitten but got hit by a car.
He survived but was slightly slow afterward, and Lester just seemed
to fit him perfectly. Kind of slow but forever silly and the perfect
lap cat.. Submitted by Jennifer Carrier

Emmeline Pigwiggin. When we brought our sweet
little calico home from the pound we thought she merited a demure, old
fashioned name like Emmeline. Then, within the week, when we discovered
what an absolute glutton she was (and it was too late to call her Petunia
Pig), we attached the surname "Pigwiggin"-- after a kitten owned by
Nathaniel Hawthorne. Mostly she is Emmeline to us, but when we find
her in the pizza box for instance, it's "Emmeline Pigwiggin, you get
out of that!". <BLHigdon@aol.com>
Fidget. In here youth, she was the most active
one of the litter. Now she is 20 and not so spunky. .

Numa. My cat was named when I got him -- my roommate's
friend Ben found him in a field with some other wild kittens. The black
one was the boldest and came up to him, so Ben caught him and gave him
to me since I wanted a cat. Ben named him Numa after the lion in Edgar
Rice Burroughs' Tarzan novels. Despite the "a" at the end of his name,
Numa is a boy! He is almost all black, with a tiny bit of white on his
chest. He chases frisbies and likes cough drops -- he takes them out
of the bag and carries them around! . Submitted

PEANUT. Peanut, my very small and irrtable kitten,
was only a month when we brought her home from Redding, Ca. Her body
was so very small and her ears and tail were huge- not to mention that
she couldn't hold her head up, it was so big! Little Bit or Radar were
good names for her, but Peanut was the best because it not only described
what she looked like, but what she thought, also..

Pousse Patte. Pronounced "poos-pat". It's French
for "pushy paws" and is obviously suitable for any unusually happy or
"kneady" cat! I lost my Pousse Patte many years ago, but he is still
the cat by whom all others are measured.. Submitted

Simon. Simon was named by his previous person
(who could no longer care for him). He's a huge cat, orange and white
with freckles on his face. He's 3 and looks (and acts) like a typical
teenage boy. He also is somewhat dog-like, in that he has no grace and
can be very clumsy. Nicknames: Puppy-cat, Sandman. A favorite game is
to pick him up and hug him while saying, "Please don't squeeze the Simon!
But Simon is no squeezably soft, he's irresistable!" .

good calling Mika out your front door. .
Ashes. She was a sweet four weekold who was the
runt of her litter. The mother pushed her away, so we weende her on
a bottle then to the kitten chow. She lived till she was eight weeks,
when my mothers golden lab (her best friend) accidentally stepped on
her and broke her leg and a few rids. She lived for a half hour then
passed on. She was the best pet anyone could of wanted. I ass her name
in honor of that sweet little kitty!. Submitted

Bram. He is a solid black coloured Oriental with
self coloured nose and beautiful large creamy jade green eyes. He has
large ears & resembled a bat as a kitten. Name logic: 1. Bram Stoker
wrote "Dracula" (ok-I realize that his was a shortened form of Abraham.
2. Bram is the Irish Gaelic word for Raven. Purr-fect for an all black
kitten who likes to appropriate items.. Submitted

Saphire; Sidney; McKenzie; Mickey and Dexter. Saphire
is the sweetest cat I've ever owned and is a Siamese Don't let the horror
stories fool you on the temperment of Siamese. It almost got me and
now I'm glad that I didn't listen. Sidney and Mckenzie are both long
haired calicos. The names just fit. Unfortunatly, McKenzie passed away
a year ago. Mickey is a fat orange tabby who couldn't harm a fly. And,
Dexter is a very unique black and white domestic short haired with a
mustache and goatee. It's perfect and "Groucho" would have been too
recognizable. .
Clover. This is a darling short-haired, gray and
white cat. Her original name was Pink Nose. Her new name fits her very
well...she is delicate and sweet just like clover..

Cat. We took a stray cat in, and with six people
in my family, no one could decide on which name to make final. Finally,
we decided just to call him "Cat" so no one's selection was favored.
The name gave everyone a big laugh.... but it did cause some problems.
When he was outside, and we called him to come into the house, people
assumed that because we were yelling, "Come on cat... come inside...."
that we were trying to lure a stray into the house. It was funny. We
had him for over thirteen years before he died from a tumor in his jaw.
He is missed.. Submitted by Lisa
