Here is the original set of
cat names:
Panther. I named my cat Panther because she is
black, beautiful, sleek, and sneaky like a panther
Submitted by Samantha Piazza
Peanut. This is my cats name because he was as
small as a peanut when we got him, now he is 14 lbs.!
Thumper. Thumper is a Grey Silver Tabby... His
back feet look like Rabbit's feet... and when you scratch his stomach...
he kicks with his back legs and looks just like a rabbit kicking.
<jjbrown@erinet.com>
Ziggysmund. One Christmas Eve, I was listening
to a radio program that was telling a touching story of a poor man and
his donkey. The donkey's name was Ziggysmund. The story touched my heart,
and so I named my cat after the animal.
Oscar, Seymour.
Krindel.
Corrigan.
Salem.
Drizzle. He's my black cat.
Baby Doc. Baby Doc was originally named "Doc"
in keeping with a dwarfish theme, as I already had a "Grumpy", but when
I found him in my front yard he was a very tiny baby and I found myself
calling him "Baby" more often than not. And with Papa Doc and Baby Doc
Duvalier in the news at the time. . . it seemed a natural evolution.
Baby Doc (the feline one) and I have been together for 13 years now.

a convenience store on a very hot August afternoon. I went in the store
to get her something to eat and drink, and she ran in with me. The store
clerk and I finally caught up with her in the Hostess cupcakes display
- she was telling me her name was Cupcakes. She turned out to be just
as sweet as the edible kind also. Submitted

Sidney. Sidney is Marty's sister, and we named
her that because my husband and I watched all the Sid and Marty Croft
cartoons when we were little ("Sigmund the Sea Monster", "HR Puffenstuff",
etc)
Marty . Marty got his name because we are big
fans of Steve Martin and Martin Short, and he was a little comedian!
Kris, Goose, Morris, Ducky, Peacock, Tiger, Junior. Kris
is for Chrismas because that is when we got her Goose is because she
is gray Morris we didn't name him Ducky We had a goose so we needed
a Ducky (and Rubber Ducky song) Peacock for the stripes on his brothers
back Tiger A tiger like face Junior He looked like his mother Kris
<Andreaf@amigo.net>
Special K. Special K has deformed toes, a deformed
ear, and a deformed tail -- so she's a special kitty!
Shiva. Shiva is a stray I took home and in the
beginning all she did was cause trouble, break things, and go to the
bathroom on my bed. We named her Shiva after the Indian goddess of destruction.
Icky and Boogshie. Icky is a 4 yo, white, Sphinx
whose real name is Isis of Lncats. My breeder and I call her Icky because
when she gets "squirrel stress" or insists on lounging on the gas stove
in the middle of summer, she exudes sweat and oil just like her furry
sisters. Only there's no fur to lick to distribute it. So she get very
"icky." Boogshie in Syrian slang means "Asshole" and, I'm sorry to say,
even though he's wonderfully lovable, he is!!
Submitted by Barb <Barbara_Errico@B-F.com>

named after a sword wielding barbarian is gonna have more balls than
one named Fluff.

because it is my cats name! Submitted by Mr.
Smith <Mr_Smith@hotmail.com>
Lunacy. Good for your new kitty that is a complete
lunatic!
Bella. Feral tabby female was at the farm when
I moved in with Brutus, Lucy, Joe, Big Boy, Little Boy & Boo. She had
a litter of kittens when I found her. Only one survived: Alley. Both
moved in and are now spayed/neutered and vaccinated. She was half starved.
Her little body displayed the signs of fights with other creatures.
Her right ear has a big tear. Beautiful eyes. Beautiful spirit. The
name Bella seemed obvious. Toby later moved in. People dropped a little
pregnant female, Nor, who had her little family: Moe, Rudy and Scrunch.
A little feral male (2 weeks old) was dropped at the back door. His
name is Louis. He's the darling of the entire household (cats, people
& dogs). All who have arrived have been welcomed with love. All (except
Louis who is still too young) are neutered/spayed & vaccinated. They
have all given much more than they have received and are truly loving,
sociable little beings. Submitted by Victoria

Firecracker. My cat, GRP Sutter's Firecracker,
is a neutered redpoint Colorpoint Shorthair (AKA Siamese) who livens
up any cat show with his incessant loud meowing. The judges are not
allowed to ignore him; he keeps up his noise until they take him out
of his cage and put him on the judging table. Then he is quiet. He plays
with their toys, stretches, purrs and rolls on the table for them. Then
they put him back in his cage and the noise starts up again. He's really
a fun cat to have around. Submitted by Wilda
Sutter <pwsutter@sssnet.com>
RUCAS. This is my cat's name given to him after
he got his paws into everything I own. <catwoman3@aol.com>
Isabo. From the movie "LadyHawk" She is graceful
and elegant and pretty much runs the house. A good name for a 'Queen'
cat. <black@metsci.com>
Squeeker.
Naya. This is my cat's name. The reason why it's
so special to me is that she is the first cat I've ever owned and we're
really close. She deserves to be recognized and have other cats named
after her for being so nice, gentle, and talkative.
Submitted by Monica
Petie. Petie was rescued by my beloved Nana. She
named him and when she passed away I adopted him. He was obviously abused
as a kitten because of his scares, but he is the most affectionate cat
I have ever loved. Submitted by Kirstin Jones

Colley-bird. A beautiful,black cat named for the
line in the Christmas carol,"The Twelve Days of Christmas". As in "four
colley-birds". A "colley-bird" simply means a black bird. We Americans

name just fit. Submitted by Barb Cochrane

Orginal. Well...its, ummmmmmmmmm.......original?
Sargeant (Sarge for short). It's groovy, baby.
Bentley. Named after the car, The Bentley, for
the rich. I found him at my riding stable, and they he was far from
rich he sure wanted to be. I took him home and he was the most affectionate
cat I ever owned. He even had a unique trick; from the ground, he would
jump up into your arms while you were standing, when I clucked to him.
He passed away a year ago and is very much missed. He was the definition
of a "cool cat." Submitted by LWiley
<LWiley@BTBoces.stier.org>
Saber. Originally, it was Saber Tooth, Saber for
short. When I first got Saber, my friend tried to hand feed him not
realizing a new kitten might not know how to do that...and CHOMP Saber
took finger and all! Luckily little kitten teeth didn't do much more
then hurt my friend's pride (I was laughing so hard). I don't really
know what Saber is, but he looks a lot like a Maine Coon Cat. He loves
to drap himself across my arm and lap as I type on the computer. He
just purrs away. Submitted by Missy

Ms. Chatelaine. Pronounced (shat-uh-lane)...I
found her when she was about 2 years old....and for a stray, she is
extremely snooty (thus the pretentious name). She is a gray persian
with yellow eyes...and an attitude like you wouldn't believe. I love
her anyway....and occasionally she even lets me pet her! :)
Submitted by Rhonda <rhondah@juno.com>
Eddie. Eddie is named for Eddie Munster, because
as a kitten he was HELL! :) He is by far the most affectionate cat I
have ever owned (sometimes I think he really wants to be a dog...did
I mention he fetches?) although my other cat would beg to differ (He
still terrorizes her on a daily basis!). Submitted

Freckles. Freckles was born looking like he had
freckles all over him. He's a doll, very affectionate and emotional.
He had to have surgery for a block in his Urethra, so I call him my
thousand dollar cat. I'd do anything for my boy.
hobbes. We chose this name for our little boy
because his first instinct when we brought him home was to pounce on
everything, including us. Also, he is naturally playful and loves to
snuggle after a long day of terrorizing the neighborhood! Lastly, he
is striped, like Hobbes!! Submitted by Cara

Ebony Ebeneezer Echo Marie. All my cats have "Marie",
used to have a cat named Ebony, nicknamed Ebeneezer, usually called
"Neezer", and Echo is a character from a comic strip and I always loved
the name.
Jude. As in Hey! Jude. Actually he is named after
St. Jude the patron saint of lost causes because he was diagnosed with
feline leaukemia. Found as a beautiful, friendly and very talkative
black and white tom kitten. After 10 years with me, my loving companion
has never actually come down with the symptoms. He has been blessed
but not as much as I have been by his presence.

books based on Drizzt, the Drow elf... My Siamese is the perfect description

Little Mister. Little Mister is a slender Russian
Blue. His shy disposition quickly gives way to affection whenever he
greets me, yet he won't associate with anyone else. I thought that this
name was the perfect description of such a seemingly dignified feline!
Eleanor. I have a two year old cat who is VERY
fastidious about keeping clean. She is also very prim-you wont see her
laying around on the job. Unlike her sister, Eleanor nibbles daintilly
at her food and carefully licks her paws clean afterward. Prim and proper,
Eleanor seems to be the perfect name for this perfect cat!
Submitted by Amy Tarr
Betsy. She is a wonderful 16 year old kitty who
loves people. She will climb up on your lap and sit there for hours
if you let her. She gets really mad when you have to get up to go to
the bathroom or something like that. Her claws really dig in then let
me tell you. I have the scars on my body to prove it.
Barbara. She was named after a dear friend's cat.
The original Barbara was the first cat that my Mom would tolerate anywhere
near her. After our friend passed away, my Mom had to have a cat and
her name had to be Barbara. She was with us for 18 wonderful years.
We just had to put her to sleep this past July. She had a very happy
and healthy life I know but I still find myself looking for her and
sometimes calling for her. She was a VERY special gal.
Chicago McFarlin. It was a name that just suited
our no-nonsense, broad-shouldered cat. Gruff but with a big heart he
has become more than a pet, he is our companion.

Braun's, The Cat Who... series
Critter. I adopted Critter after seeing him on
tv on an ad from a shelter. It was the cute name that prompted me to
get him. I was not much of a cat lover then. I was more of a dog person
then but being in a wheelchair I did'nt feel I could run and play with
a dog as I feel they should bebut wanted a pet to have around. I have
never regreted it. Critter did all kinds of interesting things like
fetch and other dog like behaviors. He is as loving if not more than
